Special Needs Assistant

Special Needs Assistant is an onsite role in Jacksonville, IL, paying $16.50 per hour. The position supports an assigned child at a Head Start site under the direction of the classroom teacher, site manager, and Special Services Coordinator. The assistant carries out the child’s developmental plan and supports physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. The role also contributes to classroom compliance, communication with the support team, and accurate child-related notes.

What you'll do

• Work with an assigned child to implement established goals
• support the child’s physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development
• conduct screenings and other assignments from the Special Services Coordinator
• meet with the coordinator and site manager for discussion and training
• attend training on children with special needs
• support Performance Standards compliance
• perform bus monitor duties
• maintain accurate notes.
