Construction Inspector, Highway and Bridge Projects is an onsite role in Richmond, VA, with work in an office and at transportation construction sites. Compensation is $25–$45 per hour. The inspector supports heavy highway, road, and bridge construction and maintenance projects under the direction of a senior inspector, construction manager, or designee. The inspector monitors construction work for quality and contract compliance, performs or oversees material testing, and maintains project records. The role communicates with contractors and project leadership to document progress, identify issues, and support safe, compliant project delivery.

What you'll do

• Perform or oversee material testing and inspections
• take field measurements
• interpret plans and contract documents
• inspect construction and installations
• document pay quantities and daily activities
• interact with contractors and report violations or recommended adjustments
• review lines, grades, dimensions, and elevations
• inspect erosion and sediment controls, BMPs, and traffic control
• maintain project records and monitor required compliance documentation.
