Client Assistant, Domestic and Sexual Violence Safehouse

The Client Assistant role is onsite in Arlington, VA. Pay is $21 per hour. The position supports Doorways’ Domestic and Sexual Violence Safehouse and Scattered Site Program, which provides temporary shelter and supportive services to survivors and their children. The role exists to provide shelter coverage, crisis intervention, case-management support, and operational oversight that help residents access safety and stability. It contributes through trauma-informed support, hotline backup, safety planning, referrals, and maintaining safe, prepared shelter and scattered-site spaces.

What you'll do

• Provide primary shelter coverage and secondary hotline coverage
• maintain client confidentiality
• support residents with crisis intervention, safety planning, and resources as directed
• provide hotline safety assessments, planning, crisis intervention, and referrals
• complete documentation and data entry
• conduct client intake
• document interactions and elevate concerns
• support community living guidelines
• assist with client departures and access to needed items
• conduct home walkthroughs and safety checks
• provide rotating backup weekend or holiday on-call coverage
• inspect scattered-site apartments
• document visitors and maintenance issues
• clean, stock, and organize shelter and scattered sites
• assist with training and respond to critical incidents as needed.
