The Assistant Director, Cornerstone Programs role is onsite at the Farragut community center at 228 York Street, Brooklyn, NY. It is full-time, 35 hours per week, with school-year hours Tuesday–Friday, 2 p.m.–10 p.m., and Saturday, 10 a.m.–5 p.m.; summer hours Wednesday–Friday and Saturday–Sunday, 3 p.m.–11 p.m. Salary is $40,000 per year. Brooklyn Community Services’ Cornerstone Programs provide academic and recreational opportunities in NYCHA community centers. Working with the Site Director, the Assistant Director oversees daily center activities and supervises staff and participants. The role helps plan and evaluate recreation and educational activities and supports high-quality experiences aligned with the organization’s philosophy.

What you'll do

• Supervise Group Leaders, Activity Specialists, and custodial staff through observations and feedback
• develop staff schedules
• assist with hiring, training, supervision, scheduling, and evaluation
• schedule center facilities and oversee setups and breakdowns
• manage crises and facilitate mediation or conflict resolution as needed
• assist with trips, celebrations, and leadership activities
• build relationships with participants, parents, and community partners.
