Equipment Operator and Fiber Optic Splicer

The Equipment Operator and Fiber Optic Splicer works onsite in Austin, TX. Pay is $18–$25 per hour. The role supports Centric Fiber’s installation of fiber infrastructure for communities and homes. The position assists with fiber termination, splicing, bonding and grounding, customer-premises equipment installation, documentation, and testing, while also operating mini excavators and other job-site equipment. This work helps install and maintain fiber networks for reliable cable, internet, and television service.

What you'll do

• Assist the splicer with daily activities
• splice fiber-optic cables
• troubleshoot and maintain equipment to resolve signal problems
• operate technical and heavy equipment
• read work prints and splice diagrams
• follow digging plans and safe digging procedures
• observe markings and grade stakes
• operate machinery for excavation-related tasks
• maintain detailed work records.
