Fire and Life Safety Director

The Fire and Life Safety Director role is onsite in New York, New York. Compensation is $28 per hour. The position is part-time and scheduled Saturday and Sunday, either 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. or 4:00 p.m.–12:00 a.m.; on-call availability for emergencies, evenings, weekends, and holidays is required. The role supports facilities safety at The Riverside Church. The director develops and oversees fire and life safety programs, emergency procedures, inspections, drills, and training. The position helps protect staff, congregants, and visitors by maintaining regulatory compliance, coordinating with emergency agencies, and ensuring safety plans and systems are current and functional.

What you'll do

• Ensure compliance with FDNY, OSHA, and other applicable regulations
• develop and oversee fire safety programs and emergency procedures
• inspect for risks and recommend corrective actions
• lead drills and training
• maintain fire safety systems and required plans and records
• liaise with FDNY and emergency agencies
• supervise fire safety staff and coverage
• respond to emergencies
• oversee contractors performing fire and life safety work.
