Mental Health Technician

Job overview

The Mental Health Technician role is onsite in Lake Charles, LA, with pay of $12.50 per hour. Volunteers of America South Central Louisiana provides supervised independent living and housing program services for adults with mental illness. The technician monitors residents’ well-being and activities, supports daily living and treatment-plan goals, and helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment. The role also documents behavior and shift events, supports medication observation, and assists with facility operations and group activities.

What you'll do

• Monitor client behavior and activities
• report health and safety concerns
• use approved behavior-modification techniques
• assist with daily living skills and treatment plans
• process admissions and discharges
• document activities and behavior
• supervise self-administered medication
• conduct safety checks
• perform cleaning and office duties
• assist with outings and group functions
• transport clients as needed.
