Business Reporter

Job overview

The Business Reporter role is onsite in Fargo, ND. Compensation is $45,000–$50,000 per year. The reporter joins The Forum of Fargo-Moorhead and InForum, which provide local news and coverage for the Fargo-Moorhead region. The reporter develops business coverage in response to reader interest, building knowledgeable and diverse sources and producing timely stories. The role contributes to the newsroom's digital presentation and community engagement through reporting, photography or video, and social media.

What you'll do

• Develop business reporting beats and knowledgeable, diverse sources
• generate story ideas and cover breaking business news
• use social media to promote stories or interact with readers
• shoot photos and video as needed
• enhance online stories with related content such as public-record PDFs, YouTube videos, and social posts
• monitor coverage from other outlets
• attend weekly in-person meetings about digital readership metrics and story ideas.

Why this role
