The Residential Counselor, Family Shelter role is onsite in Worcester, MA, and is part-time, working Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Pay is $17.51 per hour. Catholic Charities Worcester County’s Family Shelter provides temporary emergency shelter and supports families through case management and direct services. The counselor helps operate the shelter and supports guests’ needs while maintaining a safe, orderly, and welcoming environment. The role also contributes to shelter programs through crisis intervention, referrals, documentation, and assistance with life skills.

What you'll do

• Monitor shelter activity and client affairs
• assist guests with needs and questions
• maintain safety and shelter order
• complete communication logs, records, and reports
• answer phones and provide information and referrals
• monitor food supplies and storage
• provide crisis intervention as needed
• support housekeeping and life-skills opportunities
• protect guest privacy and maintain professional boundaries
• assist with programs and evaluations.
