The Child Development Specialist – Sub-Acute Stabilization role is onsite in Hartford, CT, and is part-time. The starting rate is $20.50 per hour. The Village serves children, adults, and families in the Greater Hartford region through behavioral health, early childhood, youth development, and substance-use services. The specialist supports children and young people experiencing behavioral health crises as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team. The role helps meet daily physical and emotional needs, supports social, recreational, behavioral, and academic functioning, and contributes to safe, family-focused stabilization and transition back to home, school, and community.

What you'll do

• Maintain children’s safety through supervision and therapeutic techniques, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention
• maintain a safe and dignified milieu
• support problem-solving and behavior modification
• document critical information
• communicate with families, coworkers, and external professionals
• provide safe transportation to program activities
• interact therapeutically with children
• facilitate or co-facilitate groups
• participate in meetings, supervision, and training.

Why this role

Saturday and Sunday, 7 a.m.–3 p.m. Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred; associate degree or high school diploma considered. Three years in human services or experience with children with special needs required. Certifications include TCI, First Aid/CPR, Public Service License/V endorsement, and medication certification on stated timelines.
