Business Development Director, Optical Systems

The Business Development Director, Optical Systems is an onsite role based in Chantilly, VA. Compensation is $187,000–$280,000 per year. This position supports the Rocket Lab Corporation team in connecting government and commercial customers with industry-leading space mission solutions. This role exists to serve as the primary interface between optical payload customers and internal engineering and management teams. It contributes to the company's growth by developing relationships, managing proposals, and driving partnerships in the national security space sector.

What you'll do

• Provide timely responses to all customer technical inquiries regarding Rocket Lab Optical Systems (RLOS) and Mynaric products.
• Draft proposals for new business opportunities, including Compliance Matrices.
• Develop and manage relationships with customers, teaming partners, and industry associations.
• Use internal tools such as Salesforce to track leads, opportunities, and proposals.
• Monitor sales performance and generate forecasted demand.
• Maintain and improve customer-facing technical documentation.
• Support the Business Development team by generating quotes and export license applications.
