The Before and Afterschool Assistant Counselor role is onsite in Maplewood, NJ. Pay is $16.00–$22.83 per hour. The assistant supports the YMCA’s school-age before- or after-care program in providing a safe and caring environment for children. Working with the Site Supervisor and program team, the assistant supervises children and helps deliver activities, snack and homework support, and age-appropriate care. The role also supports children’s safety, well-being, and positive relationships with families and school personnel.

What you'll do

• Assist with daily program operations and supervise children
• maintain headcounts during transitions
• support activities, snack, and homework
• follow first-aid, emergency, sanitation, and licensing protocols
• use positive group management
• build relationships with children, families, and school personnel
• help maintain a clean program environment
• attend requested training and meetings.
