The Elementary School Literacy Curriculum Writer Consultant collaborates remotely or in person as agreed based on project needs, with Zeta Charter Schools’ network office in New York, NY. Compensation is $15,000–$25,000 per project unit. This is a 12-month, project-based 1099 consulting engagement, and consultants are not eligible for Zeta benefit plans. Zeta’s mission is to provide students with a world-class education and foster a love of learning. The consultant designs elementary literacy curricula and instructional materials aligned with New York State standards and Zeta’s academic vision. The work supports coherent instruction and assessment through collaboration with academic leaders, instructional coaches, and other curriculum writers, with revisions informed by educator feedback, student work, and assessment data.

What you'll do

• Design literacy scope and sequence, unit plans, and daily lessons
• develop student-facing lessons, text-based activities, writing prompts, discussion protocols, projects, assessments, and rubrics
• curate diverse text sets
• align materials to New York State standards and Zeta’s academic vision
• embed reading, writing, speaking, listening, and critical analysis
• design performance-based assessments
• collaborate with academic leaders and curriculum writers
• iterate based on feedback, student work, and assessment data.
