Job overview

The Program Officer role is hybrid in Boston, MA, with a minimum of two fixed days per week in the office and additional in-person work as needed. Compensation is $75,000–$80,000 per year. United Way of Massachusetts Bay works with communities and partners on safe and stable housing, education, economic mobility, youth, and safety-net priorities. The officer serves as a housing content expert and relationship manager for nonprofit partners, connecting housing and homelessness services, research, and community perspectives to coordinated action. The role supports housing strategy, policy and program development, grant materials, and project systems to advance housing stability and housing justice.

What you'll do

  • Serve as primary relationship manager for a portfolio of 10–20 nonprofit partners
  • build knowledge of housing and homelessness systems and prevention strategies
  • convene regional partners
  • contribute housing expertise to priority initiatives
  • use data and research partnerships to inform policies and programs
  • prepare evidence-based issue briefs and grant applications
  • strengthen internal systems and project management
  • partner with priority communities.
