Optometric Technician

The Optometric Technician role is onsite in San Mateo, CA, with compensation of $18.40–$22.00 per hour. The technician supports optometrists and patients through eye examinations and clinical care. The role prepares patients for exams, performs pre-testing and other directed procedures, and helps guide patients through the eye-care experience. By documenting patient information, supporting contact lens education and inventory, and coordinating patient flow, the technician helps the clinical team deliver organized patient care.

What you'll do

• Gather and document patient vision and medical history
• explain exam processes
• use clinical instruments to take measurements and administer tests
• perform contact lens insertion and teach patients insertion and removal
• order contact lenses and manage trial inventory
• administer topical ophthalmic and dilation medications
• scribe and translate as needed
• support patient flow and assist with office tasks, including phones, insurance verification, check-in, chart scanning, and check-out.
