Lead Lifeguard – North is an onsite, part-time position in Spokane, WA, with starting pay of $17.82 per hour. The Lead Lifeguard supports daily Aquatics Department operations by guiding staff, monitoring pool safety, and helping ensure emergencies are handled according to YMCA protocol. The role contributes to a safe and welcoming environment for employees, members, and program participants.

What you'll do

  • Monitor lifeguard and swim instructor performance and coach staff
  • supervise staff during emergencies, assist with incident documentation, and debrief with staff
  • patrol the natatorium and engage with members and participants
  • coordinate breaks and meal periods
  • report sanitation, water quality, maintenance, and supply concerns
  • assist with staff meetings and in-service training
  • and support the Aquatics Director.

Why this role

Requires current American Red Cross Lifeguarding, CPR/AED, First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens, and Administering Emergency Oxygen certifications, plus six months of related aquatic programming experience. YMCA program-specific training is completed upon hire.
