Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner

Job overview

The Traffic Engineer / Transportation Planner role is onsite in Detroit Lakes, MN, with work also available from other Apex offices or remotely within 250 miles of an Apex office; in-person business, client, and project meetings are expected. Compensation is $90,000–$120,000 per year. Apex Engineering Group is hiring strategically to build its traffic team and expand services to public and private clients. The role leads traffic engineering and transportation planning work, including studies, analysis, design, technical documentation, and project quality checks. It also supports proposals, client development, project budgets and schedules, and mentoring team members.

What you'll do

• Lead traffic operations, corridor, traffic impact, multimodal, and comprehensive studies
• perform traffic calculations, analysis, and design
• prepare specifications, reports, and correspondence
• lead design as engineer of record for traffic control, signals, signing, pavement marking, and ITS
• check team designs
• mentor less experienced staff
• support business development, proposals, project interviews, budgets, and public meetings.
