Quality Control Field Technician

Job overview

The Quality Control Field Technician role is onsite in Orem, UT, with travel to project sites throughout Utah and occasional overnight stays. Pay is $20–$30 per hour, depending on experience and certifications. The technician supports W.W. Clyde project teams and crews with construction-material testing. The role verifies that construction materials meet project requirements before and during production. By testing materials, interpreting specifications, and promptly communicating results, the technician helps project teams make quality decisions and address issues.

What you'll do

• Sample and test aggregates, soils, base, hot mix asphalt, and concrete in the field and laboratory according to UDOT, ASTM, AASHTO, and project specifications
• perform density testing and collect asphalt cores as required
• conduct concrete field tests
• review specifications and evaluate results
• report findings and maintain test records and calibration logs
• operate and maintain testing equipment, including nuclear gauges under applicable safety requirements
• support project teams and help train crews on sampling and quality requirements.

Why this role

Ability to obtain ATTI Field Technician and ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certifications within six months is required, as is Radiation Safety Training for nuclear gauge operation. The role may involve long hours and work six to seven days a week at times.
