Job overview

The Research and Development Production Test Engineer role is onsite in Devens, MA. Compensation is $70,000–$120,000 per year. Commonwealth Fusion Systems is working to advance fusion energy and develop commercially viable fusion power plants. Embedded in the research and development organization, the engineer develops and executes tests for high-temperature superconducting magnet technology. The role integrates and operates complex test stands, improves procedures and equipment, analyzes test data, and investigates anomalies to support technology development and fusion milestones.

What you'll do

  • Lead magnet test campaigns in cryogenic, vacuum, and high-current environments
  • develop test procedures and ensure data integrity
  • improve test stands
  • design, analyze, and build test equipment
  • document requirements, risks, and safety protocols
  • manage test schedules, budgets, and technical documentation
  • improve repeatability and efficiency
  • analyze data and present findings
  • lead anomaly investigations with physicists and engineers.
