What you'll do
- Provide emotional support before, during, and after procedures
- complete and document pre-operative assessments
- prepare the room and assist the surgical technician with case setup
- anticipate surgical-team needs, perform surgical counts, transport patients, and hand off reports to recovery
- receive patients from the operating room with pertinent clinical information
- assess patients after transfer from recovery and document findings
- monitor for condition changes and report them to the physician
- review discharge instructions with patients or families
- assist with discharge readiness
- follow infection-control and safety precautions.
