What you'll do

• Assess emotional factors related to terminal illness and environmental resources or obstacles to safety
• provide emotional support, short-term crisis intervention, and individual or family counseling when indicated
• maintain contact with community agencies to promote cooperation and facilitate referrals
• evaluate patient and family responses to psychosocial interventions
• assess cultural needs and complete comprehensive initial psychosocial assessments, including potential risks of suicide, abuse, or neglect.
