Public Health Specialist — HIV and STI Services

Job overview

The Public Health Specialist role is an onsite, full-time position based in Albany, NY, serving a 15-county region; pay is $19–$21 per hour. Alliance for Positive Health provides services to people living with HIV and people at elevated risk. The specialist engages clients and helps them access and remain connected to health care, testing, treatment, and support services, contributing to improved health outcomes and continuity of care.

What you'll do

• Engage people with HIV or elevated risk who are not in care or inconsistently connected to care
• help remove barriers to health services
• conduct confidential HIV, syphilis, and HCV testing and STI screening as applicable
• coordinate with Public Health Support Specialists and providers
• provide syringes to individuals identified as needing them and refer to harm-reduction services
• conduct case conferences and referrals
• advocate for client services
• maintain records and reporting documentation
• conduct home visits or meet clients in community locations when applicable.
