The Intermittent Lifeguard (PEAC Pool) role is onsite in Vallejo, CA, and compensation is $17.40 per hour. The position supports the PEAC Pool at the Cal Poly Solano Campus, maintaining a safe and enjoyable environment for recreational swimming and fitness and instructional programs. The lifeguard supervises pool activities, opens and secures the facility, and follows emergency procedures to help protect participants and support scheduled programs.

What you'll do

• Supervise the PEAC Pool and pool area during recreational swimming, fitness, and instructional program hours
• open and secure pool facilities
• maintain daily usage and pool chemical statistics
• prepare facilities for scheduled activities
• report equipment, supply, safety, and maintenance needs
• prepare incident and injury reports as needed
• follow evacuation plans and emergency procedures
• attend mandatory meetings and training
• provide customer service
• and follow departmental policies.

Why this role

Current American Red Cross Lifeguarding certification with CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and First Aid, or equivalent, is required. Title 22 First Aid or EMT certification and prior lifeguard experience are preferred. Intermittent, as-needed work is limited to 1,000 hours per fiscal year; summer availability and possible early morning, late night, weekend, and holiday availability are required.
