Disaster Reconstruction Engineer

Job overview

The Disaster Reconstruction Engineer works in the field in Unicoi, TN, with travel to the Forest site for eight weeks and overnight travel five days per week during that period. Pay is $80 per hour. The role provides technical support to the U.S. Forest Service through NEW Solutions’ ACES Program. The role supports reconstruction of roads and facilities damaged by Hurricane Helene by providing technical guidance and inspecting contracted construction work. It helps ensure that contractors follow engineering plans and that materials and quantities are tracked and reported.

What you'll do

• Provide technical guidance on development and implementation of construction contracts
• inspect transportation construction contracts in the field
• oversee contractors to ensure engineering plans are followed
• relay questions to the Contracting Officer’s Representative
• track materials and quantities
• prepare daily progress reports
• recommend responses to construction issues.
