Material Handler

The Material Handler role is onsite in Gaston, SC, with pay of $23.37–$26.04 per hour. The position supports the CA–Columbia site’s Operations team at Alpek Polyester USA, a producer of PTA, PET resins, recycled PET, and specialty polymers. The handler supports continuous plant operations by shipping finished product and unloading raw materials. The work includes loading railcars and trucks, operating material-handling equipment, documenting shipments and inventory, and following plant safety and environmental procedures.

What you'll do

• Load finished product onto trucks and railcars
• set up and break down raw-material railcars
• operate a locomotive, shuttle wagon, track mobile, and forklift
• collect product samples
• process bills of lading, certificates of analysis, and load sheets
• enter shipment and inventory data
• communicate by radio and telephone
• perform housekeeping
• serve on the plant Emergency Response Team
• handle waste according to EHS procedures.

Why this role

Requires 12-hour rotating shifts and availability for scheduled and unscheduled shifts, including short-notice hours on days off as needed. Two or more years of chemical operator or handler experience in manufacturing is required.
