Associate Teacher — Head Start

The Associate Teacher role is onsite in Lake Jackson, TX. Compensation is not specified. The position supports Brazoria County Head Start’s early education and child development services for children ages three to five. Working with the classroom teacher and other staff, the Associate Teacher helps deliver developmentally appropriate learning, monitor children’s progress, and maintain a safe classroom. The role also supports family engagement and compliance with Head Start standards and other requirements.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with content-area staff, teaching staff, substitutes, and volunteers
• help complete home visits, parent conferences, screenings, assessments, and anecdotal notes
• use responsive care and positive strategies to support children’s well-being and address challenging behaviors
• supervise children in classrooms, restrooms, playgrounds, and on field trips
• help organize the classroom and develop weekly lesson plans
• assist with child assessments
• support self-help skills and family-style meals
• engage parents in children’s learning
• participate in coaching and professional development.

Why this role
