What you'll do

• Collect blood and other specimens using straight or butterfly needles
• explain collection procedures to patients
• match requisitions to specimen tubes
• label, centrifuge, split, freeze, store, and package specimens according to test orders and protocols
• verify requisitions and labels
• maintain specimen integrity during transport
• comply with OSHA and DEP regulations
• attend annual department training
• answer calls and read laboratory results to satisfy inquiries
• assist with troubleshooting, training, and workflow recommendations.
