Direct Support Professional

The Direct Support Professional role is onsite in Kannapolis, NC, with 20–32 hours per week and rotating shifts that include every other weekend. Pay is $17 per hour. A Place of My Own operates community programming and small residential group homes for youth with developmental disabilities and mental illness. The professional supports daily living, community participation, and progress toward more independent living. The role contributes to individualized support by assisting with activities, documenting care, communicating changes, and coordinating with families and the care team.

What you'll do

• Assist with activities of daily living at home and in the community
• support household activities and individual support plan goals
• respond to requests for assistance
• teach social and independent-living skills
• encourage independence
• document care and incidents
• stay current on medications, treatments, and behavior plans
• report changes in status or behavior
• participate in meetings and training
• transport clients in personal or company vehicles.
