Communications Associate, Hybrid

The Communications Associate role is hybrid, based out of the Alexandria, VA office, with compensation of $52,000–$60,000 per year. New Virginia Majority is a civic engagement organization working on community organizing, voter mobilization, and policy advocacy across Virginia. The associate expands the organization’s media reach and supports its organizing, policy, and political work by developing communications materials, building media relationships, and helping share campaign narratives across departments and communities.

What you'll do

• Support dissemination of campaign narratives and messaging
• collaborate on newsletters, impact reports, legislative agendas, and other content
• build relationships with press, social media influencers, and editorial boards
• assist with pitching stories, op-eds, and press releases
• publish press materials to the website
• support media training
• monitor and analyze news coverage
• translate and review Spanish-language materials if applicable
• support local events by capturing photos and stories
• attend required meetings and working groups.

Why this role
