What you'll do

• Collaborate with ophthalmic technicians, opticians, administrative staff, and healthcare professionals
• perform comprehensive eye and vision tests
• identify sight problems and diagnose ocular diseases
• diagnose, manage, and treat eye and visual-system conditions
• prescribe approved therapeutic medications as permitted by state law
• prescribe, fit, and adjust corrective visual aids
• detect signs of systemic disease and coordinate referrals
• counsel and educate patients
• document patient histories
• assess and treat ocular emergencies and refer patients to an ophthalmologist.
