Assistant Teacher — Childcare Center

The Assistant Teacher role is onsite in Patchogue, NY. Compensation is $18.02 per hour. The position supports the daily program at Way to Grow Childcare Center. The assistant teacher helps the lead teacher plan and implement classroom activities, supervises children when the lead teacher is out, and supports children’s safety, meals, and classroom upkeep. The role contributes to children’s learning and development by recognizing individual needs and encouraging creative thinking and problem-solving.

What you'll do

• Assist the lead teacher with planning and implementing the daily program
• treat children with dignity and respect
• consider individual needs
• help children develop creative thinking and problem-solving
• prevent and respond to injuries
• supervise the classroom when the lead teacher is out
• help prepare meals and snacks
• maintain a clean classroom
• report problems, injuries, and hazards.
