Triage Counselor

The Triage Counselor role is onsite in Rochester, NY, and pays $20–$21 per hour. The counselor is part of the Center for Youth’s Monroe Avenue team, supporting youth seeking counseling, emergency housing, and transitional living services. The role provides crisis response and comprehensive assessment to identify immediate and longer-term needs for youth ages 12–21. Counseling, referrals, advocacy, and coordinated community services help young people and families access appropriate support and promote healthy development.

What you'll do

• Conduct triage, assessment, and intake
• assess substance use, problem gambling, and other risk factors
• provide individual, family, and crisis counseling
• support crisis intervention, referrals, prevention counseling, and skill development
• provide youth advocacy and case management
• facilitate parent groups
• maintain confidentiality and timely records
• participate in outreach, supervision, meetings, and training
• transport clients when required and consistent with agency policies.

Why this role
