SMT Lead (Second Shift)

The SMT Lead (Second Shift) role is onsite in Carson City, NV. Compensation is $24–$28 per hour. The role supports Rocket EMS’s electronics manufacturing production team in meeting quality, productivity, and delivery goals. This lead coordinates daily SMT work, guides and trains operators, and oversees equipment setup, operation, and troubleshooting. The role helps maintain approved processes and workmanship standards, resolve production issues, and keep builds moving to customer requirements.

What you'll do

• Coordinate daily SMT assignments and line priorities
• train and coach operators
• review build documentation
• oversee setup, operation, and changeovers of SMT equipment
• verify feeders, components, and machine programs
• coordinate first-article checks
• resolve material, setup, and program issues
• monitor line performance and troubleshoot defects and stoppages
• review inspection results
• escalate quality concerns
• support equipment cleaning and preventive maintenance
• reinforce ESD, MSD, traceability, safety, and housekeeping requirements
• track output, downtime, defects, and schedule progress
• maintain production records and shift pass-downs
• support other production areas as directed
• lead 5S and continuous improvement activities.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of hands-on SMT production experience. IPC-A-610 certification and experience with Fuji, Panasonic, Juki, or comparable equipment are preferred.
