Dental Surgery Assistant, Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

Job overview

The Dental Surgery Assistant role is onsite in Mount Pleasant, SC; compensation is $19–$25 per hour. Charleston Oral and Facial Surgery provides oral and maxillofacial surgery services, including extractions, implants, orthognathic surgery, bone grafting, and TMJ treatment. Under direct supervision, the assistant supports surgeons and patients during outpatient oral and maxillofacial procedures. The role prepares patients and instruments, assists during procedures and sedation, documents care, and supports patient education and safe clinical operations.

What you'll do

• Prepare patients and surgical instruments
• gather and check supplies and equipment
• place IVs for sedation and assist with medication administration
• calculate and administer IV medication upon surgeon order
• set up procedure tables
• pass instruments and supplies during procedures
• circulate in the operatory and meet patient and documentation needs
• enter procedural notes in the electronic medical record
• provide pre- and post-operative education
• capture CBCT and panoramic X-rays
• sterilize equipment
• assemble surgical trays
• maintain OSHA, DHEC, and HIPAA requirements.
