Firmware Design Engineer

The Firmware Design Engineer role is primarily onsite in Syracuse, NY, with some flexibility to work remotely when the role and schedule allow. Compensation is $85,000–$90,000 per year. Hidden Level develops and deploys RF sensing systems for defense and commercial applications, with a mission to improve airspace awareness and safety. The engineer develops FPGA-based digital logic for data acquisition, signal processing, hardware control, and high-speed communications. The work integrates and tests designs with cross-functional engineering teams in simulation, laboratory, and field environments.

What you'll do

• Collaborate with software, systems, mechanical, and RF engineers
• participate in design and code reviews
• help develop requirements and solutions
• architect and design digital logic for AMD FPGA and SoC devices
• implement HDL components for data acquisition, signal processing, control, hardware interfaces, Ethernet, and PCIe
• perform timing closure
• integrate and test designs in simulation, lab, and field environments
• use Python, TCL, and other scripting languages to automate workflows
• travel 10%.
