Arborist Trainee Internship

Job overview

The Arborist Trainee Internship is an onsite, field-based role in Acton, MA, beginning in Spring–Summer 2027. Compensation is $22–$23 per hour. The Davey Tree Expert Company provides tree care, grounds maintenance, environmental consulting, and utility solutions. The intern learns arboriculture and green-industry work alongside experienced arborists, climbers, plant health care technicians, and landscape professionals. Through field assignments and exposure to residential tree-care operations, the internship develops practical skills while supporting tree and landscape health and client service.

What you'll do

• Learn and assist with tree pruning, removal, cabling, bracing, and maintenance
• support tree and landscape installation
• safely operate chainsaws, chippers, and other field tools
• participate in plant health care activities including deep-root fertilization, soil care, and integrated pest and disease management
• gain exposure to residential tree-care operations, client service, sales, management, and leadership fundamentals.
