Materials Handler

Job overview

The Materials Handler role is onsite in Pittsburgh, PA. Compensation is $10 per hour. The Salvation Army Adult Rehabilitation Centers collect and resell gently used goods to support residential rehabilitation programs. The handler moves, sorts, and safeguards donated merchandise and supports warehouse, dock, and thrift-store operations. The role also contributes to the work-therapy program by modeling professional conduct and work habits for program beneficiaries.

What you'll do

• Keep work areas clean
• move merchandise safely in and out of the warehouse
• load and unload trucks
• assist thrift-store staff with deliveries and placement
• serve customers and donors
• handle donations carefully
• maintain dock, warehouse, and surrounding areas
• safeguard donated materials and equipment
• bale textiles and cardboard
• assist with sorting, cleaning, and merchandise preparation
• operate a forklift after training and certification.
