The Assistant General Counsel, Complex Commercial Markets role is hybrid, with up to 50% work from home, and may be based at any Compeer Financial office in Illinois, Minnesota, or Wisconsin. Base pay is $133,000–$180,000 per year. Compeer Financial is a member-owned cooperative providing financial services to agriculture and rural communities. The attorney provides senior legal counsel to business units and executives, managing complex matters and advising on legal and compliance risks. Drafting and negotiating commercial and loan agreements supports agricultural lending, capital markets, and related business programs.

What you'll do

• Manage complex legal matters
• draft legal memoranda and opinions
• negotiate, draft, and interpret contracts and legal documents involving loans, leases, insurance, and related matters
• advise executives and business leaders on legal and compliance risks
• counsel agricultural lending teams
• draft and negotiate syndicated credit agreements and loan documents
• support capital markets and embedded finance programs
• monitor legal and regulatory developments
• provide guidance and training on legal and compliance topics
• and contribute to legal team priorities.
