Blast Research Engineer

The Blast Research Engineer is an onsite role based in Tyndall AFB, FL, with a salary range of $65,000 to $85,000 per year. This position supports Battelle Memorial Institute by conducting RDT&E efforts for the U.S. Air Force. The role exists to evaluate blast effects and protective systems for infrastructure. It contributes to the team by designing experimentation procedures, analyzing technical data, and developing mitigation strategies.

What you'll do

• Design experimentation procedures for the evaluation of test systems, including instrumentation setup and data collection from field testing.
• Develop test plans, experimentation protocols, and technology assessment studies, and lead technical projects from inception through completion.
• Apply engineering research and analysis expertise to understand explosive blast effects and blast mitigation at full scale, reduced scale, and through modeling and testing.
• Perform RDT&E of moderate complexity by compiling technical specifications, analyzing technical data, determining appropriate analysis methods, identifying problems, and developing and implementing solutions.
