Teacher Assistant

The Teacher Assistant role is onsite in White Plains, MD. Pay is $19.17–$23.96 per hour. The position supports classroom instruction and activities and reports to the Assistant Director of Educational Services. The assistant works with the Teacher to foster children's intellectual, physical, emotional, and social development. The role contributes to a safe, engaging classroom by supporting learning activities, curriculum preparation, child observations, and family communication.

What you'll do

• Engage respectfully with children and parents
• model positive social and emotional interactions
• support learning during meals and choice time
• help maintain a safe classroom and appropriate teacher-child ratios
• prepare classroom centers and curriculum
• assist with lesson plans and teaching strategies
• document observations and anecdotal notes
• assist with IEPs, ICPs, and center conferences
• maintain credentials and complete required training
• support the teaching team and Head Start mission.

Why this role

Requires a high school diploma or equivalent and at least one year in a licensed childcare center or equivalent college experience. CPR and First Aid certification are required; a Child Development Associate credential must be obtained within one year.
