Senior Tax Accountant

The Senior Tax Accountant role is hybrid in Houston, TX, with a stated salary range of $95,000–$115,000 per year and eligibility for an annual performance-based bonus. The role supports a major Japanese energy company's U.S. tax function. Working with the Tax Director, internal stakeholders, and external tax advisors, the accountant coordinates income tax compliance, prepares indirect tax filings, supports tax provision work, and provides technical tax research and transaction support. This work helps maintain accurate tax reporting and compliance while informing business operations and strategic initiatives.

What you'll do

• Coordinate federal and state income tax return preparation with external advisors
• prepare state income and franchise tax workpapers, estimated tax calculations, and sales and use tax returns
• support quarterly and annual ASC 740 tax provision processes
• review tax returns and provision workpapers
• research tax issues
• prepare property tax renditions
• assist with audits, notices, and examinations
• maintain tax records and filing documentation.
