Job overview

The Environmental Process Engineer role is hybrid, based in Hartford, CT, with three days per week onsite and remote work part of the week. Compensation is $80,000–$100,000 per year. The role joins Fuss & O’Neill’s Environmental Compliance team, working on projects for industrial, municipal, and healthcare clients. The engineer develops and supports environmental treatment and compliance solutions across project stages, from field investigation and design through permitting, construction support, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning, helping clients manage wastewater, emissions, and environmental systems.

What you'll do

  • Design industrial wastewater, environmental treatment, remediation, and air pollution control systems
  • prepare plans, specifications, calculations, and technical documents
  • develop storage tank design documents
  • use AutoCAD
  • evaluate existing systems
  • support equipment selection, construction observation, installation, troubleshooting, startup, and commissioning
  • review permits and regulatory requirements
  • prepare environmental permits and compliance plans
  • conduct field investigations, inspections, sampling, and data collection
  • collaborate with clients and multidisciplinary teams.

Why this role

The posting requires five or more years of engineering design experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field. PE or EIT is preferred. Periodic regional client-site travel is expected, with occasional travel outside the region as project needs require; visa sponsorship is not available.
