The Food Pantry Volunteer role is onsite in Ann Arbor, MI, on Mondays from 8:30 AM to 11 AM. This is an unpaid voluntary role; direct and approved expenses are reimbursed. Avalon Housing’s mission is to build healthy, safe, and inclusive supportive housing communities as a long-term solution to homelessness. The volunteer helps Avalon’s Community Building team and tenant group operate the pantry, preparing food and the shopping area, assisting clients during pickup, and restoring the space afterward. This work supports access to food for residents in Avalon’s supportive housing communities.

What you'll do

• Update refrigerator and freezer temperature logs
• prepare bags
• sort outdated or spoiled food
• bring food out and help unload deliveries
• display pantry food
• monitor the pickup line and run bags
• enter clients into Link2Feed
• assist support coordinators with deliveries
• put away extra food
• wipe surfaces, break down boxes, take out trash, and sweep and mop.
