Education and Outreach Assistant

The Education and Outreach Assistant role is onsite in Waimanalo, HI, on a 10-month schedule closely aligned with the Hawai‘i Department of Education paid-leave calendar. Pay is $18–$19 per hour. The assistant supports the teaching team in providing a high-quality learning environment for children and families. The role helps deliver developmentally appropriate, culturally relevant learning experiences for children from birth to age five and engages caregivers as children’s first teachers. Classroom support, family engagement, field trips, and referrals contribute to the program’s educational and family-support objectives.

What you'll do

• Support site setup and breakdown, co-teach lessons, and prepare materials
• assist with lesson plans and classroom instruction at program sites
• assist with monthly field trips
• engage families and encourage caregivers in their role as children’s first teachers
• participate in team meetings and implement culturally appropriate lessons for children ages birth to five
• assist with caregiver support, community resources, referrals, and assessments when needed
• complete program forms, reports, evaluations, and data collection
• travel between program sites in a program vehicle.
