The Lead Teacher plans and implements developmentally appropriate learning experiences, guides classroom staff, tracks children’s progress, and partners with families. The role supports children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development while meeting Head Start, NAEYC, and District standards.

What you'll do

• Lead team meetings to develop weekly lesson plans
• supervise and support classroom assistants, substitutes, parent aides, and volunteers
• implement the HighScope curriculum and applicable Head Start, NAEYC, and DCMR standards
• conduct screenings and observations
• maintain child portfolios and assessment records
• collaborate on IFSPs and IEPs
• communicate with families and conduct conferences and home visits
• maintain classroom health, safety, and sanitation.
