The Senior AI Scientist, Transportation & Logistics role is onsite in Pleasanton, CA, five days a week; candidates must be based in the Bay Area. The annual salary range is $160,000–$240,000. Avathon builds industrial AI solutions to support autonomous operations, including in logistics. This role leads the design and deployment of optimization and machine-learning systems for complex transportation networks. It translates operational challenges such as routing, scheduling, forecasting, and asset utilization into scalable production solutions in collaboration with engineering, product, and operations teams.

What you'll do

• Design and implement models for fleet optimization, capacity planning, vehicle routing and scheduling, and demand forecasting
• apply reinforcement learning, optimization algorithms, and hybrid machine-learning/operations-research approaches
• develop solutions for maritime, container, truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal logistics
• account for real-world constraints
• productionize and monitor robust, explainable models
• build feature pipelines and data validation frameworks
• lead AI initiatives, mentor junior scientists, and partner with stakeholders on roadmaps.
