Under the supervision of the Clinical Coordinator and Director of Surgical Services, the RN provides safe, effective, patient- and family-centered care in Surgical Services. The role protects patients throughout procedures, coordinates care transitions, and supports quality and safety standards.

• Assess patients and communicate status through the continuum of care
• protect patients from injury and infection
• perform surgical counts and time-outs
• manage specimens and medications
• maintain patient systems and normothermia
• document care
• delegate appropriately
• respond to operating room emergencies
• advocate for patient rights and coordinate multidisciplinary care.
