The Cook role is onsite in Fort Madison, IA, and compensation is $16.00 per hour. The position prepares meals for residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care at River Valley Place of Fort Madison, supporting Better Living’s commitment to purpose, dignity, and joy at every stage of life. The Cook prepares nutritious, appealing meals on the community menu while meeting residents’ dietary needs and mealtime schedules. The role also supports safe, sanitary kitchen operations and works with dietary aides and the Dining Services team to provide resident-centered service.

What you'll do

• Prepare and cook breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner according to the community menu
• follow recipes, portion guidelines, and dietary requirements
• coordinate meal timing
• operate and clean kitchen equipment
• maintain sanitary kitchen and food storage areas
• label, date, and store food
• assist with inventory and stock rotation
• interact respectfully with residents
• support dietary aides and the Dining Services team
• adapt meals for preferences or special requests
• follow food safety, sanitation, infection control, and state requirements
• maintain required food handler certifications.
