The Senior Subject Matter Expert, DHS CBRN/WMD Detection Operations role is onsite in Novato, CA. Compensation is $90,000–$115,000 per year. The role supports the Mobile Deployment Detection Unit (MDDU), a surge capability for federal and state partners and first responders at national and special security events. The position provides operational and program leadership for MDDU activities, helping ensure detection equipment and personnel are ready to deploy and that deployments are coordinated, documented, and supported. It contributes to the program’s ability to supplement chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear detection and reporting capabilities when needed.

What you'll do

• Organize and report on MDDU planning and management tasks
• transport deployable equipment by towable trailer as needed
• coordinate and track deployments
• maintain equipment in a ready state through repair, calibration, and maintenance
• provide coverage during standard and non-standard hours, including weekends and holidays when necessary
• provide just-in-time equipment training at events
• complete after-action reports
• assist with scheduling part-time surge staff
• and provide status updates to the DHS CWMD MDDU Program Manager.

Why this role

Requires 10 years of relevant R/N detection training and mission-operations experience. Travel is required 50–75% of the month within the contiguous United States and U.S. territories; deployments may last over 10 days. A commercial driver’s license must be obtained within six months of hire.
