Data and Ontology Engineer

The Data and Ontology Engineer role is onsite in Boston, MA. Compensation is $55–$60 per hour. The role supports development of an AI-driven energy intelligence service for critical data-center power equipment, starting with UPS and busway. The engineer organizes historical asset, alarm, and maintenance data and builds a semantic model that gives diagnostic agents context about equipment and relationships. The work helps validate data quality and ground diagnostics and action plans in structured, documented information.

What you'll do

• Organize historical customer asset, alarm, and maintenance data for ontology creation
• reconcile asset identities across systems and define identifier strategies
• build an ontology for asset types, power-chain relationships, and health-score links
• validate data with SHACL and produce quality reports
• conduct modeling sessions with service, reliability, and CBM experts
• version and test ontology and mappings in CI
• document schemas and example queries
• maintain competency questions and expected answers
• communicate status and issues
• review CAD and 2D drawings, including GD&T.
